We’re doing it again – a Costume Workshop! Get parade/crawl ready with us! Join the Fayetteville Mardi Gras crew for our 3rd annual fun, creative costume workshop as we gear up for carnival season.
This year’s event will be held at Ozark Charcuterie and Wine Bar, located at 3 E Mountain St. in Fayetteville, on Thursday, January 22nd from 6–9 PM. Come get ideas, grab some bling, and join us for a fun evening of creativity! You can bring a blazer, hat, mask, umbrella, sweatshirt, or anything you’d like to dazzle up with a little Mardi Gras flair… Some decorating materials will be provided, but feel free to bring some of your own. (We’ll have some blank masks there for you to decorate!) You can come to make or decorate something, or just to get ideas. Some costume items will be available for sale as well. We hope to see you there!
Last year we introduced the concept of “Trash Jackets” to our festival. In the Shreveport-Bossier area, Mardi Gras Trash Jackets are a Carnival season tradition, and you’ll see them everywhere. Tuxedo jackets with tails or blazers are adorned with pins, patches, and miscellaneous thingamabobs with significance to the wearer. They are fun to wear to the parade, to the Pub & Grub Crawl, or just to celebrate the Mardi Gras season. To read more about them, check out this blog post.
We will be giving ideas/suggestions for customizing your very own Trash Jacket at the workshop. So if you’d like to create one, find a jacket (check thrift stores, etc.), and we’ll help with the bling!
