Our Charitable Contributions

We love and support the charities of Northwest Arkansas!

From our Mission Statement:

It is our intent to make what charitable donations we can.  When and where possible it is our intent to provide a venue, free of charge, to other public service and charitable organizations.

It is our mission to bring an influx of business to the Dickson Street area at a time of year that is otherwise low on cash flow.  To this end it is not our intention to engage in commercial activities in direct competition with those businesses within our areas of operation.

Mardi Gras Royalty presenting a check to the Fayetteville Animal Shelter

Each year we raise funds from parade registrations, sponsorships, and donations from the community and businesses to pay expenses for the parade, and to support one or more local charities. The charities are chosen each year by our Royalty, and a check is presented at our after-party. Over the years, the Committee for Mardi Gras, Inc. has contributed thousands of dollars to our favorite charities.

Supporting the Fayetteville Mardi Gras means supporting the organizations in our area that make Northwest Arkansas shine!

Here is a list of some of the charities we have contributed to over the years:

This Year’s Charity:

For 2023, our 30th anniversary, our Royalty has chosen to support the Peace At Home Family Shelter in Fayetteville. Peace at Home Family Shelter is a nonprofit organization providing shelter, services, and support to adults and children fleeing domestic violence in Northwest Arkansas.

From their website, here is the shelter’s story:

Founded in 1977 by a group of community members, Peace at Home was the very first domestic violence shelter in the state of Arkansas. Our current programs include a 24-hour crisis hotline, 50-bed emergency shelter, legal services, support groups, counseling, and housing assistance programs. All services are confidential and free of charge for survivors of domestic violence and their children. Each year, Peace at Home supports over 1,000 individuals in the community as they seek safety and independence. In our 45-year history, our shelter and services have expanded, but our focus has remained on helping families leave domestic violence safely and successfully.

When you support the Fayetteville Mardi Gras’ 2023 celebration, either through sponsorships, entries, or donations, you also support the Shelter’s mission to “to empower victims of domestic violence to survive and thrive by nurturing their self-determination and courage; and to promote healthy relationships and compassionate communities through education, outreach, and advocacy.” To learn more about the Peace at Home Shelter, visit, or follow them on Facebook, or on Instagram!
