About
Welcome to Fayetteville Mardi Gras! This year we celebrate our 31st ANNIVERSARY!!
Committee for Mardi Gras Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization made up of volunteers who are committed to making this fun event happen in Fayetteville, Arkansas each year.
Mission Statement
Since our inception in 1992 (originally as the Demented Krewe of Dickson), our organization has had several specific missions. On the event of our incorporation as the Committee for Mardi Gras, Inc. these concepts were automatically adopted as part of the original intent of the organization:
It is our intent to introduce the concept of Carnival to Northwest Arkansas and to establish a Mardi Gras tradition locally. In aid of these, we strive to assist with the growth & establishment of other carnival groups and events and to encourage public participation wherever possible.
It is our intent to make what charitable donations we can. When and where possible it is our intent to provide a venue, free of charge, to other public service and charitable organizations.
It is our mission to bring an influx of business to the downtown Fayetteville area at a time of year that is otherwise low on cash flow. To this end it is not our intention to engage in commercial activities in direct competition with those businesses within our areas of operation.
It is, perhaps above all else, our mission to promote the idea that it is better than alright to have some fun in life. To costume and sing and dance is a time-honored part of the celebration of life itself, and nothing to be feared. To “act a fool” can lighten the hearts of others and reduce stress in oneself and, as such, can be a very good thing for all.
Laissez les bons temps rouler – Let the good times ROLL!
