So with a successful float building workshop under our belts, it’s now time to move to the REALLY fun stuff: COSTUMES! Whether you are needing ideas for costumes in your krewe or group, or maybe want to make something to wear in the parade or to the Pub & Grub Crawl, this is the place! The event will take place on Thursday, January 30th at 6:30 pm, at Central United Methodist Church, located at 6 W Dickson St. in Fayetteville.
We will go over some basics of costuming, such as resources on where to find materials and how to plan for all weather. We will be doing some demonstrations of making and decorating Mardi Gras masks, headpieces, capes, trash jackets, and more! This will be a hands-on workshop, so if you have something you’re working on, bring it! There will be a few supplies available to use while you’re working, and ideas for where to find more.
The good folks over at Central United Methodist Church on Dickson St. have graciously agreed to allow us to use some space in Central’s Activity Center building (thank you CUMC!). The CAC building is the center building when you enter the parking lot from Highland, and the classroom we will use for the workshop is on the east side of the large fellowship hall in the center. Enter the north side of the building.
The workshop will start at 6:30 pm, and will probably last around an hour or two. Bring your ideas and questions, and we will do our best to get you ready to do Mardi Gras in STYLE!!
SPECIAL NOTE: This year we are adding a fun element to our festivities – a “Trash Jacket” contest! READ ABOUT TRASH JACKETS HERE> Want to make a trash jacket? Read up on it, and come join the fun! We need trash jackets in the parade, and will even be featuring a Trash Jacket contest at our Fat Tuesday Pub & Grub Crawl. AND, there are prizes… woo hoo!
